I found this very interesting:

Many believe that we have but two choices to fund the federal government: The illegally administered federal income tax system we have now or the so-called FairTax that is to be administered by the same out-of-control government. The vastly superior system that is being overlooked is unlimited voluntary contributions. Skeptics are quick to point their fingers at their friends, relatives, neighbors, and all other strangers and proclaim, "Sure, I'll contribute to the financial support of my government, but they won't!" Reality doesn't jibe with such claims. In 2004, despite paying approximately $550 billion in state taxes, approximately $800 billion in government regulation, and $1.88 trillion in federal individual income taxes, federal corporate income taxes, social security taxes, federal excise taxes, and other federal taxes, Americans volunteered time worth $272 billion (1) and gave $248.52 billion to charity, a new record for philanthropic giving in the United States. (2)A constitutional federal government would cost a mere fraction of the current $2.2 trillion federal budget, for much of the federal government's activities are not permitted by the Constitution. Restated bluntly, much of what the federal government does is illegal. But the only way we can hope to return to a constitutional federal government--without bloodshed--is to seize control of our money. Every individual must be able to control 100 percent of his income and his assets. At that point, every individual will be free to contribute unlimited sums of money to support the vital functions of a constitutional federal government and his or her favorite causes and charities.
